As according to our Constitution, all of our Executive positions are to be elected at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held online on Zoom on Thursday 4th of November, 2021 at 8pm. The application process will consist of two stages: 1) Nomination; and 2) Election at AGM. The Zoom link for AGM will be provided closer to the date and will be found on our Facebook page (same as link found above).
If you wish to continue, please register your nomination below to complete stage One. All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, the 3rd of November at 11:59pm. Please note, all candidates will be required prepare a short (2-3 minute) speech for the AGM introducing yourself and why you believe you are best suited for the position.
PowerPoint slides are encouraged but optional. If you are using them, please send them through to [email protected] by 11:59pm Wednesday, the 3rd of November and we will add them to the main slide deck or will allow you to share your presentation during the AGM.
All speeches and presentations will be followed by a short Q&A session from society members to the candidate.
You may submit your application for 2 positions maximum, and all confirmations will be decided by majority vote at AGM. You can revoke your nomination at any time before 12pm, the 4th of November.
Note: Due to covenants built into the Constitution, all nominees for the position of Co-President must be currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (International) program.
The description of the the available roles are as follows:
Two Co-Presidents
The Co-President is a generalist leadership position that requires the candidate to become the face of the society. The candidates shall work together to:
- Develop events/initiatives, attend all and be willing to make speeches at each events/initiatives.
- Lead, monitor the executive team.
- Liaise with UNSW faculty heads (UNSW Business School + UNSW International).
The candidate shall have a strong communication skills, and strategic vision regarding the future of the society.
Vice-President (Internals)
The Vice-President (Internal) or VPI is a leadership position managing all of the Society’s internal operation and HRM activities. Activities include:
- Ensuring good culture and working environment within the Society, especially among the Board of Directors and across all Subcommittees.
- To initiate and lead all internal social initiatives for the Board of Directors and Subcommittees, including the facilitation of internal bonding events like Road Trips and Team dinners.
- Managing/developing Com(Int) Peer Mentoring.
- Maintenance of the HR infrastructure and talents.
The Vice-President (Internals) should have strong interpersonal skills to connect with and bring out the best of society members. The HR Director and First-year Representatives also answer to the VPI.
Vice-President (Externals)
The Vice-President (External) or VPE is a leadership position overseeing the Society’s external relations, particularly in regard to university faculties and, in conjunction with the Co-Presidents, the Society’s corporate partners. Requirements include:
- Liaison with UNSW representatives for event collaborations and information gatherings.
- Acquire and manage corporate partnerships.
- Manage, sustain, and build relationships external to the society.
- Organising the annual Global Prospects Forum, the society's flagship event.
The Vice-President (Externals) should have strong communication skills to connect with external stakeholders within industries and the University. The Socials director and Careers director also answer to the VPE.
Vice-President (Operations)
The Vice-President (Operations) or VPO is a new leadership position starting in 2022 charged with overseeing and managing all operational activities (Marketing and Publications portfolios). This includes keeping updated and maintaining operational activities schedules to ensure on-track delivery, and ensuring consistency between marketing and publications. They can also provide support to both marketing and publication directors during decision making.
The position possesses strong social focus and is therefore suited for an outgoing individual with strong communication and planning skills. The Marketing director and Publications director also answer to the VPO.
Secretary & Treasurer
The Secretary & Treasurer is an administrative position requiring the candidate to become the main internal point of contact for the Society, and entrusted with managing the Society’s finances. The responsibilities of the Secretary & Treasurer include but not solely limited to:
- Organising Executive meetings, EGMs and AGMs, including room bookings.
- Preparing meeting minutes.
- Communicating meeting decisions to the Board.
- The maintenance of the bank account.
- Overseeing transactions and ensuring that these transactions are performed and recorded correctly.
- Processing Society grants and reimbursement.
- Maintaining updated financial records (balance sheet, P&L) as required.
The candidate is required to manage club finances, and thus strong excel skills and competent financial analysis skills are required. The position requires the candidate to possess strong time management, organisation and planning skills and thus would suit an individual passionate about organising. Despite the responsibilities of the position, the workload is similar to other positions within the Executive team.
Arc Delegate (Liaison Officer) & Grievance Officer
The Arc Delegate & Grievance Officer is a liaison position requiring the candidate to become the primary point of interaction between the Society and Arc. Expectations in the Role include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining an updated understanding of Arc policy and requirements.
- Ensuring the society's actions are in compliance with Arc policies for instance events, O-week, AGMs and EGMs.
- Applying for event expense reimbursements from Arc through the Sparc platform.
- Developing and maintaining a Grievance policy, along with reporting and accountability mechanisms to protect the wellbeing of all society members.
- Advising the Board at meetings on Arc requirements specific to proposed events and initiatives.
- Liaising with Arc, other executive members, directors and subcommittee members.
The Arc Delegate & Grievance Officer is a highly social role and thus requires the candidate to have strong interpersonal skills.
